In contrast, Aesthetic Medicine in the independent sector often faces barriers due to perceived competition. As we solidify our recognition as a medical specialty, we aim to cultivate the same spirit of unity, providing a platform for collective learning, reflection, and growth to advance individual careers and the field as a whole.

This initiative delivers structured mentorship within small peer groups designed to mirror the supportive framework of a traditional NHS surgical team. Each member is paired with a near-peer mentor who provides both clinical and business mentorship, offering guidance on treatment planning, complication management, new treatment modalities, business development, and professional training opportunities. Members also benefit from monthly shadowing opportunities with their assigned mentor, allowing exposure to real-world holistic, multimodality treatment planning and execution in clinical practice. Alongside this personalised support, we facilitate centralised case-based discussions and journal club-style meetings to encourage evidence-based practice, continuous professional development, shared reflection, and collaborative learning across the specialty.
